How Do You Select the Proper Window Film to Use?
There are a multitude of films to select from. By scheduling a complimentary in-home or in-office consultation, we listen to your needs and offer specific solutions in film choices that will accomplish those goals. By providing informative consultation we can help you to quickly achieve your objectives without unnecessarily overwhelming you with options that don't work. Once you have narrowed your choice to a couple of films, the decision will likely be made by which one you prefer cosmetically. In the end, you select the window film that you like best and will best meet your needs.
Will Window Tinting Ruin My View?
Absolutely Not! By reducing the glare and allowing for better clarity, window film actually enhances your view. A perfect match for the Westsound area where we can see the mountains, the water, the evergreens, and so much more! Quality film and proper installation will not only enhance your view, but provide an overall warm, clean look to your home or office.
What Are Some Examples of the Different Types of Window Film?
There are films that are considered to be neutral and range in tint shades from clear to very dark; there are films in the bronze range (other hues available); there are films that have a more reflective (mirrored) look; there are transparent films, there are films to maximize privacy; there are films to appear like rice paper or etched glass; and films developed specifically for the lowest amount of reflectivity to enhance the night vision look through your windows. When it comes to window film, there is a film for every application and cosmetic look. The possibilities are endless-and you choose what works best works for you!
How Is the Film Applied & How Long Does It Last?
Most window film application takes place on the interior of the window. The quality of the window film and level of professional installation can impact the life span of the product. Depending on specific conditions, an interior application of window film may vary in life span anywhere from 15-25 years.
Our films are installed by a professionally trained, and manufacturer certified installer. During the installation process you can expect your home or office furnishings to be protected. Because the installation process essentially happens by using water and baby shampoo you can expect a clean, non-toxic process without any odors or chemicals.
While the idea of installing window film sounds simple enough, it is a very technical and artistic process. Do not settle for anything less than a trained professional for maximum results.
What Can I Expect from the UV Protection and Fade Control?
Nothing eliminates fading from the suns UV Rays. UV Rays from the sun are not the singular cause of fading. Fade also comes from interior lighting and heat, however; by protecting your items from the sun's UV Rays you can extend the lifetime of what you are protecting (on average two to five times longer).
How Much Glare Can I Reduce With Window Tinting?
Window Films do an excellent job of reducing glare. Each film type performs differently and we can provide you with the product spec information for the film you select. As a general rule, the darker the film, the more glare is reduced-up to 85% depending on the film.
What Can I Expect In Terms of Temperature Decrease?
Energy efficiency studies are often conducted on larger, commercial projects. For residential application, the temperature reduction can vary depending on: film type, number of windows exposed to the sun, exposure of the windows (east-west-north-south) and shadings that impact the windows, etc. As a general rule of thumb, the most common window films can reduce the temperature in the immediate area several degrees.
What Do I Do About Slight Imperfections Just After Installation?
It is normal during the curing process (estimated time of 30 days) that you may see slight imperfections in the film. This is perfectly normal and will go away as the film cures. Some of these imperfections may include a milky, or hazy look, and small bubbles that will evaporate as the adhering process takes place. If at the end of the curing time you still experience any difficulties, contact our office and we will correct the problem immediately at no cost to you.
How Does Film Affect Low-E Windows?
Window film is a perfect compliment to the efficiency of Low-E Windows. Window films enhance the solar heat rejection of Low-E Windows and enhance the UV Ray Protection (Low-E windows do not usually offer the same level of protection as window films for UV Rays).
What Do I Have to Do to Prepare for Installation?
In almost all cases, nothing! One of the most important parts of the process is the thorough cleaning and preparation of the interior of the window pane and this is done by our certified installer. In some cases you may be asked to remove blinds, or other furnishings that may obstruct a clear path to the windows, but in general every effort is made to make this process as simple as possible for you-our valued customer.
What Do I Have to Do to Clean the Windows After Installation?
You can take care of your windows the same way you do now, the only difference is that you are asked to leave them alone during the curing process (30 days). Windex, vinegar, water, soap (and even ammonia for some applications) are all fine. Do not use abrasive cleaning products or materials to clean the windows (but you would likely not do that to start with).
Can Window Film Be Removed?
Remember, the intent of the film is to stay put for years into the future, however; with the proper tools and significant effort it can be removed. We are glad to provide a quote for performing this service if requested.
How Do Safety & Security Films Provide Protection?
In the unfortunate event of a natural disaster such as an earthquake, or a terrorist attack, window film can dramatically impact the safety and survival of the building's occupants. Safety & Security films work to minimize the shards of glass that can travel through the environment in these types of situations, often severely wounding the occupants.
